Michael Montes, Composer

Michael Montes began teaching himself to play the piano at the age of seven and later dropped out of medical school in order to make composition his life’s work. Since then he has written extensively in the areas of film and television. His work has been heard by audiences worldwide and several of his pieces are included in the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art. After stints at Elais Associates and JSM, Montes opened Sacred Noise with Jeff Rosner in 1995. Here Montes functions as Creative Director, overseeing of the development of staff composers. Current film scoring projects include documentaries on the war in Seirra Leone and the theater director Robert Wilson. Some of Michaels credits include Whipped, Ghost Trip, Remembering Marshall, Cusp, Secrets of the Dead, I Remember, The Headhunter’s Sister, and Mugshot.
